In December of 2006, I was single parent raising my daughter was six years old at the time. I didn’t have much money, I wanted to buy a Christmas tree. I took my daughter along with me. As we were choosing a Christmas tree within my budget, my daughter wanted a tree than that planned one. I told my daughter we afford a taller tree. Someone must have heard of our conversation. When I went to for the tree, the clerk said the customer before me had paid for my tree. I shocked. I was very thankful what the stranger had done for us. That day I promised to that I would pay it forward.

New Look of My Hometown
My hometown is a beautiful city. The climate here is neither too hot nor too cold. There are green trees and beautiful flowers everywhere all the year round, which makes it look like a large garden.
In recent years, the economy of the city has been developing rapidly. The city is taking on a new look with high buildings, wide roads and better surroundings. People’s living conditions are improving day by day. Many people have moved into new apartments and many even have cars of their own.
I’m sure people in my hometown will work even harder to make our hometown more beautiful and our life happier.

M: Why can’t we go for a trip this weekend Mum?
W: First, I’m busy this weekend. I need to get my car fixed. Second, you have a lot of homework to do.

M: I hate that lady in my office. I can’t put up with her any longer.
W: What makes you say so?
M: She is too noisy and always tries to get but not to give.
( Text 3 )
M: How much is a pair of sunglasses of this kind?
W: It was thirty-five yuan a pair last month. But this month you have to pay five more yuan for a pair.
( Text 4 )
M: You look so worried, Alice. Aren’t you going on well with your work?

W: I am going to study in Australia after graduation from middle school.
M: why do you want to go there?
W: Because my aunt and her family are all there, and I want to study overseas.

W: Everyone seems to be on a diet. Have you noticed that?
M: At least everyone is talking about it. A neighbor of mine is on a banana diet. She eats one banana for breakfast, one for lunch, and two for dinner.
W: that would be bad for her teeth and her health. Has she lost any weight?
M: She doesn’t look any thinner. My sister eats eggs to lose weight, only eggs for breakfast, for lunch and for dinner.
W: That’s bad for her heart! Something in eggs is good for losing weight, but too many eggs are bad for the heart.
M: I’ve read that, too. Then what about a fish diet? One of my cousins eats nothing but fish, even for breakfast!
W: That’s too expensive. The best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. That’s why I’m on my way to the tennis court.
( Text 7 )
W: Hey, Tom. How about the football match you played with Class One yesterday afternoon? I’m sorry I didn’t go to watch.
M: It doesn’t matter. I know you’ve been busy recently.
W: What’s the result?
M: The score is 1:3 in our favour.
W: That’s wonderful. It’s actually within my expectation. What position did you play?
M: I was a midfielder.
W: I thought you were the forward. You run so fast.
M: Our midfielder got injured the day before the game.
W: How did Jim perform in this match?
M: He was sent off for getting two yellow cards towards the end of the match.
W: What a pity!
M: We’re going to have a game next week. Would you like to cheer for us?
W: I’d love to if I’m free.

M: Hi. My name is Mike Adams. I have a reservation here tonight. I just want to check in.
W: Okay. Let me check here. Well, here’s your key. You’re in room 306. Just walk down this hall and you’ll see the elevators on the right.

W: It serves breakfast from 6:30 am to 9:30 am.

W: It’s on the second floor, and it’s open from 3pm till 10 pm.
M: And one final question. Do you have wireless Internet in the rooms?
W: We do, for $7.95 a night.
M: And every room has a refrigerator, right?
W: Well, we can have one put in your room for an additional ten dollars a night.
M: I thought something like that would be included in the price of the room.
W: Sorry, sir.

M: Hello. I’d like some information about the trip to Los Angeles.
W: Yes, of course. How can I help you?
M: Well, how are we travelling?
W: It’s a special kind of bus with room for sleeping.
M: And how many people are there in a group?
W: Well, the bus can hold ten people. Usually there are seven travelers, two drivers, and a tour guide.
M: So, we sleep in the bus.
W: Yes. And you can cook in the bus, too. And you can have a shower in the bus.
M: Do we leave from New York?
W: Yes, and you will return to New York, too.
M: Is there anything special we need to bring?
W: Oh, we give everyone a list of suitable clothes and all the things to bring. Of course, space is limited.
M: Oh, yes. I understand that. Now can you tell me the time to book?
W: Well, it depends. Usually six or eight weeks before your travel.
M: OK, thanks very much. Bye.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. This is the broadcast for Lost and Found at Wal-Mart. I have something to announce. There are two items today for their owners to collect. One is a camera bag which was handed in twenty minutes ago from the Toy Department. The other one is a brown purse that one of our assistants found in the women’s changing room of the Clothing Department. I really hope the owners will come to the office of the Lost and Found and get back these items after hearing the announcement. Our telephone number is 0755-2888. Our office will be closed at 6 o’clock. Remember the time, please.
All staff working in these two departments had better keep this in mind. When the owners contact you to ask about these two items, please tell them to go to the fourth floor to my office. If they telephone you, do write down their information including their names, telephone numbers, addresses and post codes. So I can post them to their houses after I confirm the owners. Thank you.
